SagePath is an educational website for reading selected classical Chinese passages, considering their language and themes, and asking questions along the way. It is built for curiosity and practice—not as a substitute for scholarship, historical study, or professional advice.
What is in the library
SagePath currently presents selected passages from eight works: Dao De Jing, The Analects, Zhuangzi, The Art of War, Mencius, The Great Learning, Doctrine of the Mean, and Records of History.
The library is selective rather than complete. It does not claim to reproduce a particular printed edition, settle questions of authorship or textual history, or replace consultation of a scholarly edition.
Editorial and translation method
Each learning entry pairs original Chinese with a concise learning translation, topic labels, and prompts for reflection. Translations and explanations are written or adapted for a learning interface; they are not a critical edition and may differ from other published translations.
We aim to preserve the difference between the source text and a modern explanation. Readers should compare translations and consult reliable editions when precision matters.
How AI is used
SagePath uses AI-generated responses to support conversation, explanation, and study questions. AI-generated text is not a primary source, a scholarly citation, or an expert verdict. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or shaped by the context of a conversation.
Use the original text, reputable translations, and qualified teachers or researchers for important academic, cultural, legal, medical, financial, or personal decisions.
